Modern Summer City Wedding at the River Center Downtown Des Moines
Peyton & AJ
During this blog, we chat with Peyton about her and Aj’s wedding and what some of her favorite parts were and some things she would change if she could go redo it all over. Check it out!
First, can we reminiscence for a minute about how awesome your engagement session was in Colorado? We even got two totally different looks (cold and snowy) and (warm and dry/red rocks) all into one session.
Our fall engagement session in Colorado was a dream. We started our day at St. Mary’s Glacier in Colorado, where Kendra, my husband and I hiked 1,000 feet in 8 inches of snow to take the most gorgeous wintery photos. On our way to Denver, we stopped at Red Rocks, where we shot photos in front of the fall colored trees and gorgeous rock formations at golden hour. We truly got to see all of the seasons in one session!
Tell us about how you and AJ met and how did he went about proposing?
AJ and I met as interns at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in college and quickly were drawn to each other because of our competitive and driven spirits. Our proposal was nothing short of amazing. AJ enlisted the help of my close family to pull off a proposal on the stage of Red Rocks Amphitheater the day after we moved to Colorado!
What was your favorite part about your wedding day?
Our favorite part of the wedding day was sharing our personal vows to each other during the ceremony. You could feel the love in our words and so could all of our loved ones!
If you could change or redo one thing from your wedding, what would that be?
We came to realize that the wedding day will never be the perfect in every way, but it was the most perfect day to us. If we could redo one thing, it would be to not stress about the little things like the dress, decor, or weather. The only thing that matters on that day is our love for each other and the exciting next step we get to take surrounded by all of our loved ones.
Can you explain some of the great advice your officiant gave you two during the ceremony?
During the ceremony, our officiant told us to never forget to be each others “CRO” or Chief Reminding Officer. To never forget to remind each other how much we love one another, how lucky we are to have this love and how we are always “the one for the job”.
What is one piece of advice you would give other couples about wedding planning?
It is just one day! There can be so much stress leading up to your wedding day, but when you realize it’s just one day in a lifetime with your partner none of the small details seem to matter, especially when you’re surrounded with so much love on the big day!
How was working with KMP?
For a couple who was very nervous to be photographed together for the first time, Kendra instantly made us feel comfortable with her fun spirit mixed with professionalism that shows her true passion for photography. She captured our love for each other in every photo, nothing was ever posed, staged, or forced. Her photography is art, we will cherish our photos and our experience with KMP Photography for the rest of our lives!
